Addenbrookes Keyworker Units
Provision of 292 strategic keyworker residential units, as part of the expansion and redevelopment plans associated with the construction of a European Flagship Cancer Research and Treatment Centre, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. ALD worked closely with the architectural team to help guide the design and layout of the buildings, respecting existing tree lines, creating communal gardens and strong links to the ground of the existing hospital site.
ALD were appointed to carry out full landscape architectural consultancy services for the Key Worker development. This included specification of biodiverse planting mixes, survey and identification of trees and methods for their protection (including the positioning and levels of the built forms in order to protect trees and their root zones), introduction of green and brown roofs, and the use of recycled materials in the landscape.
